A Community Built on Love and Gratitude

We know that choosing memory care for a loved one is a big decision. At Vista Living Care, security, comfort, and personalized support are at the heart of everything we do. Our intimate, family-style memory care homes provide a secure and nurturing setting, where highly trained dementia-certified caregivers offer expert support with kindness, patience, and respect. We love what we do, and it shows in every moment we share with our elders and their families. Caring is not just our job. It is our passion, our purpose, and our greatest joy. We are deeply grateful to the families who trust us with their loved ones, allowing us to be part of their journey. Over time, caregivers, elders, and families become more than just a community. We become family. Here at Vista Living Care, love, respect, and connection bring us together, making our home a place where everyone belongs.

OUR APPROACH

A Comforting & Peaceful Home for Your Loved One with Attentive Supervision

Our Story

In 1998, Joe Nachtrab and his team set out to change the way dementia care was provided. Long before memory care became a widely recognized term, they transformed Sierra Vista into a dedicated home for individuals with Alzheimer’s and dementia, pioneering a new approach to compassionate care.

Today, his son Luke along with a seasoned team carries that vision forward, ensuring Vista Living Care remains a place of stability, innovation, and heartfelt service. With three welcoming homes in Santa Fe and Las Cruces including The Arbors, Sierra Vista, and Vista Hermosa we continue our mission of creating a nurturing environment where residents and their families feel truly supported.

Our Guiding Compass

At Vista Living Care, FAMILY is not just something we talk about, it is who we are. It is in the way we care, the way we listen, and the way we show up for one another every single day. We believe that true care comes from the heart, and we are honored to provide a home where elders and their families feel secure, valued, and truly loved.

A Symbol of Home, Care, and Connection

Our logo, the Triad, represents home, family, and a strong foundation built on connection and care. It reminds us to embrace life’s simple joys—we laugh, we cook, we dance. Most importantly, it symbolizes the heart of Vista Living Care: our dedicated staff, the elders, their families, and the Nachtrab family, all coming together as one.

“The facility itself is full of life and laughter. It feels like a home, not an institution. They even have pets for their residents to love on”

Frequently Asked Questions

We understand how important it is to find a memory care home in Santa Fe that offers security, compassion, and a true sense of belonging. At Sierra Vista, we are here to provide guidance and support as you explore care options for your loved one. Below, we’ve answered some of the most common questions about our memory care services and what makes our home unique.

At Vista Living Care, we understand that navigating insurance for memory care or home care services can feel overwhelming. While we do not directly bill insurance, coverage options vary depending on your unique insurance policy. If you have a long-term care insurance policy, many of these plans do cover services provided at Vista Living Care. However, the extent of your benefits and any reimbursement processes should be reviewed with a trusted legal or financial advisor for clarity.

Additionally, Veteran Affairs (VA) benefits may be available for eligible veterans, but you must apply in advance to secure these funds. We highly encourage families to explore this option early in the planning process.

Our experienced team is well-versed in the available financial aid options and is more than willing to assist you in identifying resources, applying for support, and answering questions to make the process as smooth as possible. Whether you’re considering our residential memory care homes, Vista at Home services, or Vista Listens (insurance coverage for Listens coming soon) therapy programs, we’re here to help you every step of the way.

It can be challenging to know when it’s time for professional memory care, but certain signs may indicate the need for additional support. If your loved one is struggling with daily tasks, experiencing increased confusion, wandering, or showing behavioral changes, they may benefit from a structured and supportive memory care environment.

The decision to move to memory care depends on an individual’s needs and circumstances, rather than a specific age. While many elders transition in their late 70s to mid-80s, others may need care earlier if their memory loss progresses rapidly.

At Vista Living Care, we believe in transparency, simplicity, and fairness—especially when it comes to pricing. That’s why we offer a flat-rate pricing model for our memory care homes, designed to give families peace of mind and eliminate surprise fees as care needs evolve.

Our all-inclusive monthly rate covers:

  • Room and board

  • Nutritious meals and snacks

  • Unlimited housekeeping and laundry

  • Daily activities and enrichment programs

  • Transportation to appointments or outings

  • Case management and social services

  • 24/7 memory care support and supervision

Unlike many senior living communities that use a “level-of-care” pricing model, Vista Living Care does not increase your rate based on changes in your loved one’s care needs. As your elder’s condition progresses, your cost remains consistent—so you can focus on care, not cost.

The only expected changes to our pricing are:

  • A small annual cost-of-living adjustment to account for inflation and rising operating costs

  • Minor incidental charges for personalized elder needs (such as nutritional supplements like Ensure or specialty wound care supplies)

Our pricing philosophy reflects our commitment to supporting families throughout the entire memory care journey—with dignity, clarity, and compassion.

At Vista Living Care, we welcome family visits as often as you’d like. We understand how vital regular connection is for our elders’ emotional wellbeing, and we’re committed to supporting strong family bonds every step of the way.

While you’re welcome to visit daily, we recommend coming during regular business hours to ensure your loved one is well-rested and available. Because each elder’s schedule is personalized, we suggest checking in with the home’s Executive Director to find the ideal time for visits—when your presence will be the most meaningful and least disruptive.

To maintain a calm, focused environment during mealtimes, we typically discourage drop-in visits during meals. That said, if you’d like to share a family meal together, just let us know—we’d be happy to arrange a special dining experience for you and your loved one.

Whether you’re stopping in for a quick hello or spending the afternoon catching up, you’re always welcome at Vista—this is your family’s home, too.

At Vista Living Care, training is at the heart of our commitment to exceptional dementia care. Every new team member begins their journey with us through Vista Academy, our proprietary onboarding program that delivers 40+ hours of immersive, hands-on training—far exceeding standard state requirements for memory care.

Our training is designed to accommodate diverse learning styles, blending:

  • Shadowing and hands-on practice with experienced caregivers and leadership

  • Interactive classroom sessions

  • Educational videos

  • Knowledge checks and demonstrations to ensure confidence and competency

But learning doesn’t stop after onboarding.

We believe in continuous growth and ongoing education. Every team member—from housekeeping and maintenance staff to Medical Assistants and Executive Directors—participates in monthly advanced training sessions. These focus on specialized topics critical to memory care, including:

  • Dementia progression and communication

  • Elder safety and emergency protocols

  • End-of-life care and comfort techniques

  • Collaborative training with visiting professionals like physical therapists and hospice providers

We also work hard to foster joy, teamwork, and motivation through our Employee Recognition Program. This program includes fun competitions, team-based challenges, and peer-to-peer compliments—all designed to build community and make Vista a place where both elders and team members thrive.

When you choose Vista, you’re choosing a team that is trained, supported, and constantly evolving to provide the most compassionate and professional memory care available.
